Congratulations, you’ve made your first step to what we hope will be a very friendly, fun filled experience. The club was formed in 2018 with the ethos that it would be a supportive and friendly club for everyone. We don’t feel the need to constantly talk of speed, distance and PB’s – some people can find it intimidating and off putting. So, instead, we have worked as a committee to create a culture where people come to enjoy their running, work at their own pace, have a good time, see the different routes available around our great town, and go away laughing and wanting more.
That’s not to say that we don’t enter races and encourage people to do their best in them. If someone is working towards a specific goal, then the club is more than happy to support them every step of the way.
As the club has expanded we have forged together a strong Committee and group of Run Leaders to help. Along with the members, they will form the heart and soul of the club, they also come from different walks of life and have different sets of abilities and skills. This places them in a perfect position to help everyone at the club. So, if you have any questions then please do not hesitate to ask any of the Run Leaders for advice during one of our training sessions.
If you have any general questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the relevant members of the committee or contact me direct on: 07843 270081 or send me a message: chairman@eastgrinsteadrunners.co.uk.
I wish you all the best in your running and hope to see you at training soon.
Best wishes,
Jim Dorrington
Club Chairman
Here is our club committee:
Main role to oversee the smooth running of the club and Committee, ensuring the clubs ethos and values are always followed.
Chairman@eastgrinsteadrunners.co.uk
After a ‘one off’ marathon for St Catherine’s Hospice in 2015, Jim became hooked and has gone on to race many more. Since joining the club he has developed a love of trail running and has even added a few ultras to the mix for good measure. He loves adding a bit of cheek and banter to club runs (meaning he’s often running a bit faster just to avoid a well-deserved slap!)
Natalie Moon – Club Secretary
Supporting the chairman in the running of the club, maintaining club admin and procedures to ensure the club is following UKA policies.
Secretary@eastgrinsteadrunners.co.uk
Having never run before Natalie took up running later on in life – and went from Couch to 5K to half marathon, marathon & more recently 50k Ultra. She loves nothing more than sharing her passion for running and its mental health benefits. The C25K the club offers is one of her many highlights as a Run Leader.
Tim Winkley – Head Coach
Responsible for overseeing club training and the team of Run Leaders, to ensure members are always being trained safely and to their full potential.
Coach@eastgrinsteadrunners.co.uk
Tim has completed multiple races over the years varying in distance from 5km to 100 miles – his latest adventure being the UTMB CCC. He is a qualified CiRF (Coach in Running Fitness) Coach and whilst always taking his own and the members running seriously, he loves to add his sense of humour and love for mud/hills and puddles into as many sessions as possible.
Matt Inge - Membership Secretary
Maintaining all members club annual membership and UKA affiliation. Ensuring up to date records of all members data.
Membership@eastgrinsteadrunners.co.uk
Matt started running in 2018 to get fit after a health scare. He was soon looking for others to run with, which is when Matt saw Martin setting up this group. Since joining he has discovered a love for trail running and enjoys seeing how much other runners improve.
Cat McHugh - Welfare Officer
Point of contact for all members regarding any welfare/concerns within the club.
Welfare@eastgrinsteadrunners.co.uk
Turning up to East Grinstead Runners first session was the best decision. Cat has moaned, Cat has fallen aka Bambi but is still going. As much as she disliked hills and grass they have now grown a friendship. In Cat’s words… When your head is telling you “I can’t do it” tell yourself “I can do it”.
To maintain the EGR website and social media with current news and events within the club.

Sean Started running with us in 2019 as a complete beginner. Over the last two years he has run in many run events including the Brighton Marathon in September 2021. Sean loves to see new members grow and he will happily talk to/help just about anyone - just don't ask him about his real name!
Responsible for promoting and developing club activities.
Development@eastgrinsteadrunners.co.uk
Responsible for the supply , ordering and delivery of kit for EGR club members.

Glenn returned to running to get fit and lose weight, so took on his first Marathon in Brighton in 2017. Now after multiple marathons , half marathons and every kind of event up to that, he’s now dedicated to keep running and encouraging others to take it up and enjoy the benefits.
