2021 will be the 11th running or the Andy Ripley Memorial East Grinstead 10k. The race is a scenic, undulating multi-terrain 10k on good footpaths, bridleways and residential roads. It is suitable for runners of all abilities and we always have a good mix of first timers and more seasoned club runners - everyone is welcome. The event is "run by runners, for runners" with the majority of marshals coming from the East Grinstead Athletics Club, East Grinstead Triathlon Club and the East Grinstead Runners.
During the last nine years the race has raised over £18,000 for good causes including Prostate Cancer UK and East Grinstead Lions charities.
All entrants will receive a sustainably-sourced medal.
We're East Grinstead Runners, a run club in East Grinstead and we’re a friendly bunch. We like positive attitudes and offer bags encouragement and fun. We started in June 2018 and are growing fast with everyone’s fitness.
Whether you run just because you love it or you are training for a 10k, marathon or ultra, we welcome keen, sociable runners; our members come in all shapes and sizes and of all abilities. All that we need to know is that you can run a 5k to join.
We enjoy meeting few times a week; on Tuesday’s (7.30pm - 8.30pm), Thursday's (7.30pm - 8.30pm) and Sunday's (8am - 10am). To have a look at all our Covid-19 precautions, just visit our dedicated page here.
On Tuesday's we usually meet at East Grinstead station at 7.30pm (occasionally we meet at East Court and, for track sessions we use the K2 track in Crawley). Tuesday’s sessions focus on technical skills and drills so we do hills, tempo runs, intervals and track. The sessions last for approx. an hour, finishing around 8.30pm.
Our Thursday sessions are a more relaxing jaunt as they are tailored towards those coming back from injury, those in need of a recovery run or those new to running. We usually meet at the station at 7.30pm for a 4-5 mile run, finishing between 8.15pm - 8.30pm.
Our Sunday runs usually start at East Grinstead station at 8am and are all about the trails! They tend to be somewhere between 7 - 10 miles so are usually finished by 10am. You can find out more on what to expect from training here.
Congratulations, you’ve made your first step to what I hope will be a very friendly, fun filled...
